Can you make an icon that is not on your list?

 Most often, we can. Because these are carved signs we do need to be careful that there is not so much detail in an icon that it becomes uncarvable

Can I have my icon on either end of the sign?

Yes, just let us know where you would like it. Our default is to put the icon on the left.

Can I have multiple icons?

As long as there is space for it on your sign, you can order additional icons for a sign. This works best if your text is short or you are not including a distance as that frees up space on your sign for a second icon.

Can I get a color not listed on your chart?

Yes, though we often do ask for a minimum order size for custom colors. 

Does it matter which font(s) I choose?

You are welcome to select any font or fonts from our list. We do suggest using the bulkier fonts on shorter words and the more streamlined fonts for longer text. You may also want to consider if you want to use a variety of fonts or if you want uniformity in your signs through a single font.

Do you add a finishing varnish to the signs?

We don’t, but depending on the look you want, you certainly can once you receive your signs. The paint will fade over time in the sun, so if you are concerned about that, coating with either a clear spray or clear coating with uv protectant would not hurt. That said, some prefer the weathered look of the colors so it is truly a personal preference.

What type of screw or nail do you recommend using?

We would recommend using a #6 or #8 – 1.5” flat head screw. A zinc plated fastener is fine for many situations. If the boards are going to be exposed to more extreme outdoor conditions including sea/salt water spray, ice, and snow, we would recommend using a stainless or brass #6 flathead screw with your signs. The zinc plated fasteners are cheaper but could rust in outdoor weather conditions and that rust could transfer to your sign.

Do you sell a stand?

At this time we do not as we have found shipping stands to be cost prohibitive. If you are looking to attach them to a stake to put them into the ground, we would suggest getting a pole/post at Lowes, Home Depot, Menards, or any place that carries wood. We have had good luck using a bannister rail because it is flat on one side so you can nail all of the signs on the flat side, or you can use the curve and place the boards at different angles, whichever works best for you. You can also purchase the poles in different lengths which is handy.  That said, a lot of people mount them on trees or fence posts, so there are options available and you can find many of them at a general hardware store.

Are the signs carved in wood?

The signs are made from a new material which is intended for outdoor use and is water, mildew, pest, rot, splinter, crack, and UV-Resistant. From their web listing “a sustainable new building material with all the warmth and beauty of real wood. Yet it’s light, strong, water, pest and weather-resistant, and guaranteed not to rot, crack or splinter. Best of all, this material is made without harming a single tree, in a zero-waste environment”.

Do you drill holes in the signs for screws?

We do not drill screw holes because people use different methods to mount and hang their signs which means some will want 1 hole in the center, another wants 2 holes on the left part of the sign, and some do not want to use screws so want their signs without holes. We do suggest pre-drilling an ⅛” pilot hole in the sign where you want to place the fasteners. The pilot hole is ideally at least a half inch away from any edge of the board. In addition, we would recommend drilling an ⅛” pilot hole in the display stand post where you want to attach your signs.

How do you determine shipping costs?

Shipping within the 48 contiguous United States is FREE!

How long will it take to get my signs?

Once you approve the digital mock up of your sign(s) we make the signs within the next couple of days and ship them as soon as they are made. Shipping is typically via USPS or UPS Ground from La Crosse, WI. We cover those shipping costs. If you would like a different shipping method, please contact us and we will work with you to honor your request.

Do you allow returns for refunds or exchanges?

Please contact us about any issues with an order. Our goal is for you to be completely satisfied and we want to do all we can to meet this expectation. If we cannot correct the issue for you and you would like to return your purchase, please contact us. Returns are accepted within 30 days of customer receipt of order. Buyer is responsible for return shipping costs and any loss in value if an item isn’t returned in original condition.
